Diet Planning

These days everyone has a plan for the day in order to fit in all those things that need to be done. Simple meal planning can improve your diet. Why not spend a few minutes and plan out what you will eat? Since you are reading this, you have the time. So sit back and follow these seven easy steps. It is really that simple.

Mini meals.

Small meals eaten every few hours can be of great help. You can try having small snacks every two to four hours to keep going. Fruits are a great way of keeping hunger at bay and increasing your vitamin intake. Make sure you have a balance snack. Include some v proteins, carbohydrates and fibre in your mini meals. Sandwiches are a great mini meal. A bucket of fried chicken or king sized burger is not a good meal. Avoid keeping candy bars close by as the mini meal. Just make your mini meals up and eat them every time that you have planned.

Don't go over board.

This is easier said than done. If you are trying to reduce the quantity of food you eat, make it easy on yourself. If you normally serve five ladlefuls, next time serve three. Keep track of how much you are eating using this simple method. I'm not suggesting that you break out the calculator and count up every meal that you have. Avoid waiting until you are hungry to eat. People tend to serve more when they are hungry. Determine the amount of food you will have consciously not by how hungry you are feeling. Also serve small portions first. If you are not satisfied you can have more. This will help you cut down on the amount of food that you eat.

Eat tasty food.

Eat something that you have decided not to once in a while. This will keep you from thinking constantly about it and feeling bad that you can't have it. This will make it easier to maintain your diet. Instead of nibbling constantly on your treats, just have them. This doesn't mean you go overboard and have several helpings of chocolate cake.

Exercise.

Exercise stimulates the body and mind. A little exercise every day will help to keep you fit and alert. It does not necessarily mean taking a gym membership. Small things like taking the flight of stairs as opposed to the escalator, walking short distances, standing instead of sitting are all small everyday ways in which you can exercise.

Eat your calories, don't drink them.

This is simple and straight forward. Avoid carbonated drinks, beers and chocolate drinks. They contain a lot of empty calories that do nothing for you except to pile on the pounds. A cup of chocolate here, a soda there a beer at the end of the day is a big no no.

Know your food triggers.

Everyone has food triggers. When was the last time you went grocery shopping and got home without having nibbled or eaten something from the bag? You need to know what triggers you to eat outside meal times. If you can do this, you can avoid situations that will make you eat things that you shouldn't.

Make your meals last.

Stop inhaling your food, chew it. I am sure one of your parents must have said this to you many times. Well, it is true. Don't swallow your food. Instead, eat it slowly and enjoy the taste of it. If you do this, it will make you feel like you have actually eaten something. When you wolf down your food, you don't get the feeling of having eaten well and this tends to make you eat more.
